Meeting point: Park Nimfej
Park Nimfej is a small park located between the Riva and the Karolina parking lot, beneath the Arena. (It’s not the one with the sailor statue but the one closer to the sea.)

- Behold the magnificent Arena, a remarkably preserved ancient Roman amphitheater, renowned as one of the largest in the world.
- While we won’t enter the Arena, we’ll admire its grandeur from the outside, marveling at its impressive architecture and imagining the historic events that unfolded within its walls.
Tito’s Park
- Our next stop is the serene Tito’s Park, a delightful green space dedicated to Josip Broz Tito, the former Yugoslav leader.
- As we wander through the park, we’ll encounter a detailed model of Pula, providing insight into the city’s layout and landmarks.
The Twin Gate – Porta Gemina
- Prepare to be transported back in time as we visit the ancient Roman gate known as the Twin Gate, or Porta Gemina, dating back to the 2nd century. This imposing structure once served as a crucial entrance to the city, standing as a testament to Pula’s rich history and architectural prowess.
Zerostrasse
- Delve into Pula’s wartime history as we explore the intriguing Zerostrasse, an underground tunnel system constructed during World War I. as a shelter.
The Gate of Hercules
- Our tour continues to the iconic Gate of Hercules, another remarkable remnant of Pula’s Roman heritage. Adorned with a depiction of Hercules’ head, this ancient gate stands as a symbolic entrance to the city, welcoming visitors to explore its historic wonders.
The Arch of the Sergii
- Step back in time as we encounter the Arch of the Sergii, a testament to the glory of the Sergi family and Roman craftsmanship.
The Temple of Augustus and Forum Square
- Our last tour destination brings us to the Temple of Augustus, situated in the heart of Forum Square.
- As we explore the site, we’ll marvel at the temple’s former grandeur and contemplate its enduring legacy in shaping the cityscape of modern-day Pula.
